The Texas-based nonprofit Defense Distributed caused a stir last week when it uploaded to its website instructions on how to make the gun, which may be able to pass through most metal detectors. The feds on Thursday got the nonprofit to drop the plans from its site, arguing that posting them violated a federal law regulating weapons exports.
